Smash 4 DOES HAVE a Story Mode

By LUDWIG VON KOOPA - Blame Kotaku for everything.

Apparently, some very bad news has caught the Internet like a wildfire. Or to be less cliché, like the popularity of bashing Nintendo for not caring about conflict minerals in Africa. Apparently, Masahiro Sakurai said in an issue of Famitsu that Super Smash Bros. 4 would not have a story mode! Well, we're done kids! No Subspace Emissary update for you!

Or so it would seem. Look at the source. If you click that, while the article title may be "Blame YouTube", you should really be blaming Kotaku. Because as usual, they start crap on the Internet and it gets spread around like there is a shred of legitimacy. How do I know Smash 4 really does have a story mode? Because the discussion on this topic seemed familiar...

If we look back to the Sakurai interviews post-E3, we get this one. It talks about how there WILL be a story mode, BUT it won't be LIKE Brawl's. Not that Smash 4 won't have one at all. The consistent message between both Sakurai statements is his position on cutscenes. So that's validated. But there will still be a story mode. I think it's also easy to deduce that Sakurai doesn't consider Classic Mode to be a story mode. It's probably closer to Melee's Adventure Mode, which was fun and Nintendo-inspired and stuff.

There. Now stop this stupid rumour. If you see anyone repeat that Smash 4 won't have a story mode, link them to this article.

Even KoopaTV readers are misguided.

Even the Miiverse community for Smash 4 thinks that there won't be a story mode! Follow Ludwig at NNID PrinceOfKoopas to perhaps witness him saying how wrong they are.

Sakurai's view on cutscenes is here.
